ABOUT

katie plaizier, Registered acupuncturist

Starting over a decade ago, regular community acupuncture treatments helped me to shift painful emotional patterns and move through some very challenging periods in my life.

With a general practice, I meet you wherever you’re at and with whatever you’re holding. My goal is for sessions to feel collaborative, and for you to feel increasingly grounded and well resourced.

I am a graduate of Complement Channels of Classical Acupuncture intensive training with Ann Cecil-Sterman. This means that in addition to the channels of modern acupuncture, my practice draws on dozens more strategies to support clients with complex complaints, including childhood trauma, overwhelming emotions, pain of all kinds, and chronic degenerative illnesses.

I graduated with a Diploma of Acupuncture from Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2023, and am licensed with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario.

  • My goal is for sessions to feel collaborative, and for you to feel increasingly grounded and well resourced, so that you can show up fully wherever you're needed.

  • I believe your body is already doing its best. Classical Acupuncture understands that the body has numerous in-built tools that are constantly working to resolve imbalances resulting from environmental, dietary, emotional – and structural – stressors.  The use of needles supports us by releasing holdings and/or building additional resources to support change.

  • Through my practice, I have come to understand that fewer needles are almost always better than many.

  • Consent is the cornerstone of my practice. This means detailed explanations, opportunities to ask clarifying questions, and I will always communicate what I am doing throughout the treatment to your comfort level.

  • I bring a trauma-informed understanding to my work, which extends beyond individual experiences to historic and ongoing structural violence(s).

Acupuncture is deeply personal: it's important to find a practitioner you feel comfortable with. Here are some key things to know about my practice, and if you have any questions please reach out.

You can also check out other acupuncturists I recommend if you’re looking for a different kind of fit.
